Save The Construction Paper!

I am always looking for new ways to get my child interested in Art. After all, it helps his Fine Motor Development. How can I make the “same old” Art materials… “brand new”? Here is an idea. What if I saved a piece of construction paper, and used something else instead?

Yesterday, I put out “Bingo Dots”.
He was interested (but not for long).
Same construction paper. Same tools.

But then…

I went to the kitchen and put foil where the paper had been.
"OOOOooooooo, Mommy”, he exclaimed.
He loved it, and he played for a very long time.
"Dot,Dot,Dot!" :)

*Optional: If you don’t have “Bingo Dots”, try crayons on the foil
it looks awesome!

  1. Isn't so funny how mixing it up a little can make for a great new experience. I like the foil too!

  2. Your son looks totally engaged. What a creative idea using aluminum foil with bingo dots.

After he has lost interest in the project you might use the aluminum foil for making boats. Set out a pan of water and let him discover what shapes will float.

Thank you for sharing this intriguing project. What a wonderful mother you are!

  3. This looks fun. I love the deceptively simple ideas.

If anyone is looking for free "bingo dotters," I've discovered that if you give up an evening to play bingo, people tend to give you their dotters when they're finished. We have a monthly event in Seattle called "Gay Bingo." (Yes, it's an Aids fundraiser.) I went once and wound up with all the dotters I could use for a year.
